From 18 to 22 February 2021 the French alpinists Thomas Auvaro, Léo Billon, Jordi Noguere and Sébastien Ratel made the first ascent of BASE on the West Face of Petit Dru in the Mont Blanc massif. Their climb, which partially follows a 2015 attempt carried out by the Spaniards Josep Maria Esquirol and David Palmada, was streamed live on Youtube. The film documenting the French ascent is now online.
