Watch Bronwyn Hodgins, Hayden Jamieson, Danford Jooste attempt to free Picaflor in Cochamó valley, Chile
The video of Bronwyn Hodgins, Hayden Jamieson, Danford Jooste attempting to make the first free ascent of Picaflor on Cerro Capicua in Valle de Cochamó, Chile. The 1000m big wall was first ascended in 2016 by Tom Ireson, Martin Håskjold Larsen, Clare Mains, Barry Smith and Fernando Virot.
Last winter Bronwyn Hodgins, Hayden Jamieson, Danford Jooste, Tyler Karow and Jaron Pham headed to Valle Cochamó in Chile with their eyes on a Picaflor. Located on the west face of Cerro Capicua, this marvellous granite big wall had been first ascended in early 2016 by Tom Ireson, Martin Håskjold Larsen, Clare Mains, Barry Smith and Fernando Virot, and while much had been climbed with the use of aid, the first free ascent of this imposing 1000m line was still outstanding.
Hodgins' team reckoned this was the "perfect objective", and their 6 weeks of free climbing efforts - which resulted in all but one of the pitches being freed - are now condensed into this great film directed by Pham.
