After having been closed for seven years, at the start of July one of the oldest mountain huts in the Mont Blanc massif was finally reopened: Rifugio Boccalatte at the base of the Grandes Jorasses. Also known as the "Hut of the Grandes Jorasses", this beautiful building was built in 1881 at 2803m above sea level. Thanks to its unique location, perched high above the glaciers, it serves as the starting point for some of the most coveted climbs the entire massif.

After two years of working together with the Turin Section of the Italian Alpine Club, the new hut wardens are now Roberta Francesca Heidi Cutri and the mountain guide Franco Perlotto who, in this video, talks about the new challenges he has to face while running this historic gem.
