How on earth did they film it? This is the question that springs to mind when watching the ascent of The Cartwright Connection, the 1400m high new route established on the Mount Hunter's iconic Moonflower Buttress from 13 - 18 May 2011 by British alpinists Matt Helliker and Jon Bracey.
The answer is a ground camera man doing time lapses, approach, zoom shots and aerial footage, and a handycam each. As filmmaker Alastair Lee states, the result is "some exciting insight into what it takes to climb a route like this and how incredibly fit and dedicated Matt and Jon are. More importantly we get to see their emotional state as the climb wears on. There's plenty of time for filming when you get stuck in a portaledge for a day..."
