Slovenia has strong ties with Patagonia and an interesting new chapter has now been added to the rich climbing history they share thanks to Luka Krajnc and Luka Lindič who have completed a new line on the south face of Aguja Poincenot in the Fitz Roy massif.

Speaking briefly to planetmountain on their return to El Chalten, the alpinists confirmed that the new route tackles 500m of new terrain before joining the Whillans route to reach the summit. The pair climbed between the 23rd and 26th of February and breached difficulties up to 6c and A3. Success comes after a first attempt in 2022, while in 2023 the pair travelled to Patagonia to complete the line but never even touched the route because of unfavorable conditions.

Commenting after the ascent of Pot (The Path), Lindič explained "It was so much worth it to stick with it despite all the hits along the way. What a privilege to be able to open such a line nowadays."

Krajnc and Lindič have climbed many of the hardest routes in the Alps together, while in early 2020 they travelled to Patagonia and established Mir on the south face of Aguja Saint-Exupéry.

More details will follow in due course.
