Brasilian team summits Trango’s Nameless Tower

On 30 June 2001 Waldemar Niclevicz, Marcelo Santos and Irivan Gustavo Burda summited Trango's Nameless Tower, Pakistan
On 30 June the expedition led by the Brasilian Waldemar Niclevicz successfully summited Trango’s Nameless Tower, 6251m Pakistan. After 11 consecutive days of rain and snow the team made the most of a weather window to summit via the Slovenian route.

Waldemar Niclevicz, Marcelo Santos and Irivan Gustavo Burda dodged falling debris in the final section to summit after 29 days, thereby becoming the first south American team to climb this mountain.

Last year Niclevicz successfully summited K2, together with Abele Blanc and Marco Camandona. During his dramatic descent he was forced to bivi at 83000m, but luckily suffered no frostbite.

The weather has now made a turn for the worse and the Brasilians are currently making preparations for their return to Islamabad and then home.
