Piolets d'Or 2024 announces "big list" of Significant Ascents The organisers of the Piolet d’Or mountaineering award have published the 'big list' of most significant and innovative climbs carried out in 2023. The honoured ascents will receive the Piolets d'Or 2024 award during the celebration at San Martino di Castrozza (Italy) from 8 - 11 December 2024.

Phungi Peak, big Himalayan first ascent by Koshelenko and Lonchinskii On 28 October 2017 Russian mountaineers yury koshelenko and Aleksei Lonchinskii completed the first ascent of Phungi Peak (6538 m) in the Nepalese Himalaya. Climbing in alpine style, the two required five days to forge their route up the mountain’s SW Face.
