Piolets d'Or 2025 announces list of Significant First Ascents The organisers of the Piolet d’Or mountaineering award have published the 'big list' of most significant and innovative climbs carried out in 2024. The honoured ascents will receive the Piolets d'Or 2025 award from 9 - 12 December 2025 during the celebration at San Martino di Castrozza (Italy).

Mick Fowler & Victor Saunders make first ascent of yawash sar (6258m) in Karakorum British mountaineers Mick Fowler and Victor Saunders have made the first ascent of yawash sar, a 6,258m peak in Pakistan's Karakoram climbed via the NW Face. Climbing alpine style, the pair summited on 14 September.

Andrzej Bargiel, Jędrek Baranowski climb Laila Peak On 10 May Andrzej Bargiel and Jędrek Baranowski climbed Laila Peak (6096m) in the Karakorum, Pakistan. Starting from about 150m below the summit, the two Polish mountaineers then descended on skis.

Andrzej Bargiel claims first ascent and ski descent of yawash sar II in Pakistan On 30 April Andrzej Bargiel made the first ascent yawash sar II (6178m) in the Karakorum, Pakistan. Having reached the summit via the west face, the Polish mountaineer then made the mountain’s first ski descent.
