Silvio Mondinelli summits Broad Peak, his 14th 8000m peak Mondinelli has summited Broad Peak and all fourteen 8000m peaks: in doing so he has become the second Italian to climb the worlds highest mountains without the use of supplementary oxygen. The ascent and descent were carried out in a storm.

Austrian Shipton Expedition: new routes and repeat of Women and Chalk In mid-July a five-man Austrian expedition comprised of Thomas Scheiber, Hansjörg Auer, Matthias Auer, Karl Dung and Ambros Sailer established two new routes in the Trango Valley, Karakorum, Pakistan, and repeated Woman and Chalk, first ascended in 2001 by Bubu Bole, Mario Cortese and Fabio Dandri.

Robert Jasper frees the Yeti on Eiger North Face On 16 July the German mountaineer Robert Jasper teamed up with Stefan Eder from Austria to make the first free ascent of Yeti, the route fist climbed in 1998 by the Italians Andrea Forlini and Gianni Faggiana on the North Face of the Eiger.
