From 25 - 27 February 2012 David Lama and Peter Ortner established a demanding new route up the North Face of Loska Stena in Slovenia.

Slovenian climber Matic Obid has repeated a series of routes, from the Site rock face in the Julian Alps to Paklenica in Croatia, via Mont Blanc and also his first 8c at Sezana in Slovenia.

On 22 January 2010, 34 year old Italian mountaineer Luca Vuerich was killed by an avalanche while climbing an icefall at Prisojinik, close to Kranjska Gora on the Italian-Slovenian border. Vuerich was rescued and transported to hospital in Udine, where he died of his injuries.
