Without a rope, alone, into the unknown. Martin Feistl reports about the solo first ascent of the mixed climb 'Daily Dose of Luck' (400m, WI 5, M4) established on 24 January 2024 on Hammerspitze in Pinnistal, a small side valley of the Stubaital in Austria.

French mountaineers Yannick Boissenot, Julien Herry and Zian Perrot-Couttet have made a new ski and snowboard descent in the Mont Blanc massif, 'L'aileron du Requin' on Dent du Requin.

French mountain guide Paul Bonhomme set off in the early hours of this morning from Muggia in Italy on his ambitious 'Zero to Zero' project to run across the Alps all the way to the Principality of Monaco following the Via Alpina trail in 28 days.

German alpinist Jost Kobusch has successfully climbed the Messner Couloir on Denali in Alaska in winter and solo. He is the first person to repeat this route in the coldest season.

The organisers of the Piolet d’Or mountaineering award have published the complete list of most significant and innovative climbs carried out in 2021.The prize giving ceremony will be celebrated from 18 to 20 November 2022 at Briançon in France.
