Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games postponed to next year Due to the coronavirus pandemic the XXXII Olympic Games scheduled to take place this summer in Tokyo, Japan, have been postponed. The date is yet to be announced but will take place by summer 2021.

Canada will not send athletes to Olympic Games in summer 2020, including Sean McColl, Alannah Yip The Canadian Olympic Committee has announced it will not send athletes to the Olympic Games in summer 2020 due to the risks associated with the coronavirus outbreak. Over 300 Team Canada athletes have qualified for Tokyo 2020 including Sean McColl and Alannah Yip.

If approved, sport climbing will feature in the Summer Olympic Games for the second consecutive edition after Tokyo 2020.
