We have received and published the following open letter entitled 'Alpine sport climbs ground-up first ascents: an art of climbing sportsmanship at risk of trivialisation'. Promoted by Michel Piola, Rolando Larcher and Maurizio Oviglia, it has currently been signed by almost 100 climbers from all over the world.

Austria’s michael kemeter has made the first free ascent of a big multi-pitch climb at Mont-Rebei in Spain, established in 2018 by Ignasi Miralpeix Llobet e Gil Furriols.

On the SW Face of Schartenspitze in Austria michael kemeter has made the first free ascent of Tortour, the difficult multi-pitch alpine outing he established ground-up between 2011 and 2012.

From 2 to 5 June 2017 Kanzianiberg in Austria will host King of Kanzi, the 1980’s climbing festival. Special guests include Nives Meroi, Romano Benet, Steve House, Jacopo Larcher, Markus Pucher, michael kemeter, Lisi Steurer, Lorraine Huber and Thomas Brandauer.

In May 2015 michael kemeter, Jürgen Reinmüller and Roger Schäli made the first ascent of Alpinstil (7c+, 135m), a new multi-pitch climb route on the island of Telendos in Kalymnos, Greece.
