| Things are heating up for the ice climbing movement! Apart from the various competitions planned for this coming season, there are a host of different ice climbing meets dotted throught Europe further afield. Apart from Valle di Daone mentioned yesterday, here's a small selection of what's on this winter, and the four dates of the Italian Alpin Cup. Arco - Italy Things kick off this Sunday with Tool on the Rocks, a dry tooling meet in Arco, Northern Italy. Organised by Red Point and the Icepassion committee, the meeting is open to all, and gets underway at 8.30am in Arco's central square. Argentière la Bessée - France The Ice Climbing Event is now in its 15th year, and the gathering is without a doubt the reference point for European meetings. From 5-9 January 2005, Fournel will once again host its annual ice-fall meeting: Kandersteg - Switzerland One of Europe's premier cold spots hosts its meeting from 7-9 January 2005. Guests include Ines Papert, Will Gadd, Sandra Wielebnowsky, Jack Müller, Simon Anthamatten and Thomas Steinbrugger. Limited places are available for the workshop. Festiglace, Quebec, Canada The eigth edition of the famous Canadian Festiglace takes place 18-20 February. Heralded as the world's biggest ice climbing gathering the international competition is held on the majestic frozen waterfalls of the Ãle aux Raisins canyon. If you're planning on travelling to Canada, consider also the International Coupe de Quebec from 12-13 February. ITALIAN CHAMPIONSHIP ALPIN CUP The Italian Alpin Cup, organised by the Icepassion Committee, is comprised of 4 stages: 26-27/12/2004 - CAMPITELLO VAL DI FASSA 1st stage. Dry tooling. 08-09/01/2005 - VAL PASSIRIA (BZ) 2nd stage. Difficulty and Speed. 15-16/01/2005 - RIVA DI TURES (BZ) 3rd stage. Difficulty. 22-23/01/2005 - MONGUELFO (BZ) 4th stage. Final. |
