| Lecco, Wednesday 25 June 2003 Sahara-like temperatures accompanied the start of the Women's World Cup in Lecco, which, despite the heat, ran smoothly. No great surprises, with all the best , apart from Natalia Perlova, qualifying for this evening's final.
