Semifinal results Valle Daone

The results of the Semifinal of the Ice World Cup in Valle di Daone
What a Semi-final! The Women’s event this morning was practically a Final, with five tops in total, two at the hands of Ines Papert. Hot on her heels were Liv Sansoz, strong as ever, and Maria Livfshits, the only athlete to top out of the difficult second boulder problem. Mi Sun Go pulled out all the stops to qualify, together with Sdobnikova, Watkins, Maureau and Buhmann.

The Men’s Semi-final proved to just as trying, with three completely different problems testing the athletes to the limit. Last year’s World Cup winner Dulac was the only competitor to top out on two problems, while just missing the third top by one move.

Krivoishetsev’s calm and ability continue to be the Leitmotif of his impressive performances, which ensured him a spectacular top on the second problem. Husson topped out on the long, tiring first problem together with Dimitri Bytchkov, determined to earn a place in the Finals.

The third problem won the public over, with a spectacular overhanging leftwards traverse. Harald Berger climbed brilliantly to top out, as did Will Gadd, who up to this point seemed to be climbing a bit below par. Steinburger and François Lombard complete the list of eight Finalists.
