Levet and Meyer win Bouldering World Cup 2001
Levet and Calibani win fifth and final stage of Bouldering World Cup 2001 in Birmingham. Levet and Meyer take overall title
The fifth, final and decisive stage of the Bouldering World Cup 2001 took place in Birmingham last weekend. After an exciting semi-final Pedro Pons, Salavat Rakhmetov and Mauro Calibani held the top three slots, but all changed during Saturdays Final. The Italian Mauro Calibani proved his World Championship mettle and took first place, ahead of team-mate Christian Core and the Frenchman Jerome Meyer, who with this third place wins the overall World Cup 2001 title. Calibani takes second place overall, ahead of Daniel Andrada from Spain. The womens event was won, once again, by Sandrine Levet from France. Lisa Rands placed second, ahead of Vera Kotasova, third.
