World Cup bouldering was on the agenda yesterday at Vail, USA, after the long break following the three stages in Asia. All eyes will be on the provisional leaders Tsukuru Hori, Rei Sugimoto, Miho Nonaka and Janja Garnbret and also on the battle between Garnbret and defending champion Shauna Coxsey who will try to consolidate her leadership in the 2017 ranking. At present the Brit leads by a mere 8 points and a good performance in Vail will prove vital. It's worth noting that in the men's competition, 9 of the best 10 are all Japanese. Evidently they're doing something right in the run-up to Tokyo 2020.
