Zaila Rakhmetov
Zaila Rakhmetov, on the road to recovery
Encouraging news concerning Zaila Rakhmetov, the daughter of Guzel and Salavat Rakhmetov who in May 2010 was serioulsy injured at a crag in Turkey.
Almost a year and a half after the terrible accident in Turkey, Zaila Rakhmetov is doing remarkably well. As a result of the life-threatening injuries (at the time the young girl lay in coma and received numerous operations, including some to the brain) she has learning disabilities and is working hard with speech therapists. But she is a happy child, enjoying life, playing with her friends and devoting much time to painting both at home and in the kindergarten. The fact that she has lost her left hand is of no importance to her and she is sculpting clay like few others!
Planetmountain and the entire climbing community wish her and her family the best of luck for the future.
