Watch Pete Whittaker make first ascent of 9a crack climb Crown Royale at Profile Wall in Norway
The video of English climber Pete Whittaker making the first ascent of Crown Royale (9a) on the Profilveggen / Profile Wall at Jøssingfjord in Norway. Graded 9a, this now ranks as one of the most difficult trad cracks in the world
Following on from his 8c first ascent Eigerdosis last August, in October Pete Whittaker finally managed to free Crown Royale, his mega project at Jøssingfjord in Norway. This is the last obvious line on the Profilveggen / Profile Wall, a 100 meter overhanging crack which is "up there with the hardest bit of trad climbing I've done." The 32-year-old put forward the grade 9a and if confirmed, Crown Royale would stand as the first crack climb of these difficulties.
