The Lappnor Project: Nalle Hukkataival on Burden of Dreams, the world's first 9A boulder

Watch Nalle Hukkataival attempting, and then freeing Burden of Dreams, the world's first 9A boulder, freed at Lappnor in Finland in 2016.

Deep in the forests of Finland stood an unclimbed boulder problem known as the Lappnor Project — a line many believed could be impossible for a human to climb. Finnish climber Nalle Hukkataival decided to prove otherwise.

The 2017 film Lappnor Project documents Hukkataival's relentless pursuit of what would become one of the most historic achievements in climbing. Over nearly four years of dedication, countless attempts, and global anticipation from the climbing community, he pushed the limits of human strength and perseverance. When the impossible finally happened in October 2016, the ascent redefined the sport — the world’s first 9A (V17) boulder was born: Burden of Dreams.
