We don’t often report about Ramon Julian Puigblanque climbing outdoors, usually the Spaniard is too busy with his demanding competition schedule. But when the double World Champion finally hits the rocks, there’s no stopping him. Proof of this comes from his 8c+ onsight in 2011 (at the time he was only the third in the world, after Patxi Usobiaga and Adam Ondra), as is his ascent of the 9a+ Catxasa at Santa Linya with the thermometer hitting 39°C.

Further proof - were this really necessary - comes from his latest outdoor raid when in just two (non consecutive) climbing days between Cuenca and Oliana he red pointed two 9a+ and two 9a’s. If you add to this one 8b and a handful of 8a onsights at Margalef - renowned for not having soft grades - then it’s easy to understand why Ramonette’s holy week was anything but a relaxing holiday.
