In October 2001 Josune Bereciartu and her partner Rikardo Otegi both redpointed Noia, Itay’s most famous 8c+, first climbed by the Italian Severino Scassa way back in 1993.

Both climbers are from Spain and Bereciartu in particular is well-known for her 1998 ascent of Honky Tonk, the first ever female 8c. In 2000 she upped the stakes by redpointing Honky Tonk Mix, the first ever female 8c+.
