The 22 year old Belgian Nicolas Favresse has recently freed "Le Clou", an 8c that could stand as the hardest route in the country. The route is located at Freyr which, with over 600 routes from 3 to 8c, is probably one of the most important crags in Belgium.

Le Clou follows Tartines de clous (7b) to then continue a line of 20 sharp moves, graded 8b+ in its own right.

Although Le Clou isn't the only 8c in Belgium, Nicolas Favresse believes his suggested grade may be somewhat conservative. 8c+ isn't out of the question, but he would prefer to leave this to the future ascentionists to decide.
