Hamish McArthur repeats 'No one Mourns The Wicked' (9A) in single session

British climber Hamish McArthur has made the second ascent of 'No one Mourns The Wicked' (V17/9A) at Thunder Ridge in Colorado, USA.

Britain's Hamish McArthur has made a dumbfounding fast ascent of No one Mourns The Wicked, the V17/9A boulder problem at Thunder Ridge, Colorado, USA. Established by Nathaniel Coleman in 2024, the problem adds the low start to Daniel Woods' 8C Defying Gravity.

McArthur arrived at the crag, started trying Defying Gravity at 12:30 and sent just one hour later. He then turned his attention to the low start and sent the entire problem at 14:27, leaving pretty much everyone speechless.

This is McArthur's second 9A after having sent Shawn Raboutou's 2022 testpiece Megatron on 22 April.

Commenting after his ascent, McArthur explained "I know that the metrics of “climbing V17 in a single session” is what gets chosen for the headline, but I want to draw closer attention to the immeasurable preparation that gives this metric colour - most of which is a kind of letting go. I just want to keep surprising myself forever."
