Elias Iagnemma repeats Burden of Dreams (9A) in Finland

It was just a matter of time. Of waiting for the right conditions. Of finding the right friction. And, above all, of believing in himself. Last night, after diverse trips to Lappnor in Finland, Elias Iagnemma sent Burden of Dreams, the first 9A boulder problem in the world freed in 2016 by Nalle Hukkataival. This is the third repeat, after Will Bosi in April 2023 and Simon Lorenzi in December 2023.

For Iagnemma, sending Burden is certainly an important weight off his mind. The Italian had discovered a new sequence in the central section, where he uses a tiny hold to heelhook on the left starting crimp, before getting injured in 2022. He was forced to slowly start over from scratch, regain confidence with the micro edges. On four separate occasions he fell from the last move going to the top hold. But not last night, when everything went perfectly and his dream came true.
