Climbing at Castelbianco, Italy
All the new routes at Castelbianco, close to Albegna and Finale, introduced by Claudia Giglio.
The new sector on the left-hand side of Castelbianco
Once the realm of high-end routes only, Castelbianco just a stone's throw from Finale Ligure has matured and, after the first routes established by Andrea Gallo & Co at the start of the '90's, the crag has now become complete with a series of easier routes to the left of the famous overhang. These routes were equipped by Andea Bisio with gear provided by Andrea Gallo's Idee Verticali Edizioni.
This update was brough to us by Claudia Giglio who after a brief warm-up on the new easy routes sent her second 8a+, the 20m long Sunrise.
Castelbianco
Sport climbing at Castelbianco is nothing new, seeing that the crag was developed at the start of the '90's by Andrea Gallo & Co who established routes up to 8a. At the end of the '90's two climbers from Genoa, Luca Biondi and Andrea Bisio, added a series of new routes up to 8b. Castelbianco became synonymous with steep overhanging testpieces but in the first decade of the new millennium the crag matured and a series of easier routes were added to the left-hand side up great compact limestone.
