Just before the torrential rainstorms hit Northern Italy, last week Austria's Barbara Zangerl managed to repeat Solitary Souls. Located at Piazzole above Arco, this 8c+ is the crown jewel of the crag. A true stamina test, it ascends a steep, overhanging prow for a staggering 35 meters; after being freed in 2019 by Alfredo Webber, it was onsighted in 2022 by Adam Ondra.

Zangerl's journey with the route was not as quick, partly because some holds were wet during her initial sessions last year. A total of 15 days were needed for her to secure the send.
