Grade confirmed. A week ago Barbara Raudner from Austria redpointed her second ever 8c, "Selbst ist das Kind" at the Adlitzgräben. Raudner climbed the fingery power endurance route during the current cold spell which hit Europe's summer, thereby confirming her excellent form which netted her Keitos Palast and the leap into the 8c league at the start of October 2006.
Raudner redpointed Selbst ist das Kind early last Tuesday. Selbst ist das Kind had been first ascended by Lukas Vogler on 08/10/2006 and has been repeated by Arthur Kubista (2006) and Bernhard Fiedler (2007). With circa 200 routes the Adlitzgräben is one of the most famous and popular crags in Austria. It faces mainly south and is therefore ideal for spring and autumn, and lies close to Semmering, circa 1 hour SW of Vienna.
