Alexander Huber frees Voie Petit on Grand Capucin

On the 17th of July Alexander Huber from Germany successfully made the first free ascent of 'Voie Petit' on Grand Capucin, Mont Blanc, grading the 300m line F8b.

On the 17th of July Alexander Huber successfully made the first free ascent of "Voie Petit" on Grand Capucin, Mont Blanc. After a series of attempts the German freed all pitches in one go in one day, grading the 450m line 8b.

The route in question had been first ascended in 1997 by French climbing aces Arnaud Petit and Stefanie Bodet on the east face of Grand Capucin, to the left if the original line up the 3838m high summit, the Bonatti route climbed by none other than Walter Bonatti and Luciano Ghigo in 1951.
