Adam Ondra onsight attempt on Psicoterapia 9a

How can you improve your onsighting skills? Perhaps by learning something from the grand masters. Such as from Adam Ondra who is featured here while he attempts to onsight the 9a Psicoterapia at Valdegovía in Spain. Ondra's attempt is impressive to say the least, because while watching the Czech climber the most obvious thing htat springs to mind is that he's on a redpoint, perfectly executing a series of moves learnt and rehearsed time and time again. But instead, this is the first time that Ondra is touches these tiny holds. It's worth observing the speed with which he moves and the complete lack of hesitation: all or nothing, going for broke, immediately.

Even if Ondra fails (this would have been his third 9a onisght after Cabane au Canada at Rawyl and Il Domani at Baltzola) the film is an excellent document that shows how much you can and must give to onsight at your very limit. And yes, for the record, Ondra sent the route shortly afterwards, second go.
