Adam Ondra in Bosnia frees High Line, one of best first ascents ever

Czech climber Adam Ondra has freed the High Line at Banja Luka in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Graded 9a+, the 25-year-old has described this as called it 'one of my best first ascents ever'.

Adam Ondra can look back on a successful trip to Bosnia. After the World Championships in Innsbruck the 25-year-old took part in the Chill & Drill climbing festival at Banja Luka and, in tune with the meeting’s message, he took a drill to hand a bolted a route in Kanjon Tijesno.

The 50+ move climb is called High Line required two days of bolting and another two days for the first ascent. Interestingly, the route has turned to be not only difficult - read "9a+ hard (or 9a+/b)" but above all "One of my best first ascents ever."

A few days earlier Ondra had also freed the 9a Interklemezzo. These two routes check in as the hardest climbs in the country by a considerable margin; the previous max was 8a+.
