In September 2025 Italian alpinists Matteo Della Bordella and Marco Majori completed the coveted first winter ascent of the Casarotto route on Fitz Roy in Patagonia. The legendary climb up the Goretta Pillar was established solo by Renato Casarotto in 1979 and is widely regarded as one of the best climbs in Patagonia.
