Three winters. This is the time Tanja Schmitt, her sister Heike Schmitt and Matthias Scherer needed to find just the right conditions to repeat Fjåne Fossen, a fascinating icefall located at Eidfjord in Norway, put up by Canada’s Guy Lacelle. During their repeat of 12 February 2015 of this WI IV/6 the three were surprised to notice that a line had come into condition on the black wall further to the left… Four days later the trio returned to make the probable first ascent of the 250m high Stormbringer that, at WI IV/6+, is just like Fjåne Fossen an extremely demanding outing, both physically and psychologically.
