![]() Nives Meroi and Romano Benet from Italy summited Dhaulagiri at 14.30 yesterday. The duo, who have now both climbed eight 8000m peaks, had been thwarted both a year ago when they reached the false summit and a fortnight ago due to bad weather, set off this time at midnight from Camp 2. They climbed through a storm which seriously damaged their tent and reached the crest and last year's "false summit." From here they continued roped up along the crest to the true summit. They left a small flag on the summit and subsequently descended down the normal route. Once again the two mountaineers climbed without supplementary oxygen and without high altitude porters. They now plan to travel to Annapurna together with Luca Vuerich, who due to health problems had been forced to abandon his attempt on Dhaulagiri.o. Manuel Lugli - Il Nodo Infinito www.tikmountain.com
