Repentance Super, the historic ice climb at Cogne, Italy, first ascended in 1989 by Fulvio Conta, François Damilano and Giancarlo Grassi.
Located above the small village of Cogne high up in Italy’s Aosta Valley, ever since its first ascent Repentance Super has represented the symbol of a new era of ice climbing throughout the Alps. Established in February 1989 by Fulvio Conta, François Damilano and Giancarlo Grassi, it ushered in an unheard of level of difficulty and even today is regarded as one of the most sought-after icefalls of all. The history of this difficult and beautiful drip, and that of the nearby Di fronte al tradimento, is recounted by ice climbing master Ezio Marlier.
