New icefalls in Italy
Winter continues in full in Italy and four new icefalls have been ascened in the last couple of weeks.
On the second pitch of Wait and Bleed
Continuing cold conditions in the Italian Alps have resulted in some of the best conditons for ice climbing in years, from the Valle d'Aosta in the west to the Dolomites in the east. Many icefalls which rarely come into condition are currently climbable and a series of drips have appeared where for years nothing ever froze solid. These include Wait and Bleed (150m, II/ 4+/5, 5b, M5 )in Valle di Gressoney, Cadarese Hot Spring (350m, II/4+ 5) in Val d'Ossola, La Bella Addormentata (170m, 6+) in the pre-Alps, Colatoio Camillo Zorzi (140m, III, 4) in the Dolomites.
