The Messner Mountain Museum at Corones
After Castel Firmiano on the outskirts of Bolzano, Ortles at Solda, Monte Rite between Pieve di Cadore and Cortina d'Ampezzo, Castel Juval in Val Venosta and Ripa at Bruneck, the sixth Messner Mountain Museum has now opened its doors on the summit of Plan de Corones. This museum located at 2275m above Valdaora, Bruneck, Kronplatz and the Gadertal marks the end to the project the South Tyrolean mountaineer Reinhold Messner has described as his “15th 8000er” and the sum of all his experiences. Inaugurated officially on 24 July 2015, this museum is dedicated to trad adventure alpinism, the supreme discipline of mountaineering. Here’s a sneak preview by journalist Im Duck Yong.
