Larcher and Vigiani repeat Sur le fil des apparences,
On 14/09 Rolando Larcher and Roberto Vigiani made the first repeat and first on-sight of 'Sur le fil des apparences', first ascended in 2003 by Philippe Mussatto and Rémy Duhoux on the Specchio di Sara Pillar on the south face of the Marmolada, Dolomites.
![]() Rolando Larcher and Roberto Vigiani make the first repeat of "Sur le fil des apparences," the 350m 7c first ascended in 2003 by Frenchmen Philippe Mussatto and Rémy Duhoux on the south face of the Marmolada. Rolando and Roberto alternated leads up to the penultimate pitch, where the route joins up with the Slovenian route. Vigiani was unlucky on the first pitch where a broken foothold marred his on-sight. According to Larcher the line is "great and engagée", winding through the roofs and pockets at 7b obligatory. Protection is run-out with just a couple of in-situ bolts and pegs on the pitches (4 bolts on the 5th 45m 7c pitch). The only beauty spot, if this is the right term, are the artificial threads created by the first ascentionists by joining two pockets with the drill. Perhaps a bolt would have been better at this point. 'Sur le fil des apparences' is without a doubt one of those routes where experience and , as Larcher says, "courage counts!" Something which the Larcher-Vigiani team certainly don't lack. ![]()
