Ines Papert has had an intense month!
In training for the Ice World Championship, scheduled for the start of March in Russia's Kirov, the German climber has made a number of hard mixed repeats. These include, amongst others, the first female ascent of Mauro Bubu Bole's "classic" Mission Impossible M11. Conditions over the last couple of weeks have been near perfect, resulting in a flurry of fast ascents - in between one repeat and another Ines found the time to tell us about "her" World Cup 2003 and her ascent of Mission.

World Cup 2003
"The season couldn't have gone better. I was only a bit disappointed that the women's routes were often unspectacular and too easy, meaning that after the competitions I was never really tired... I hope the IWC competitions will continue, but I also know how hard it is to find sponsors every year."

Mission Impossible
"
Compared to the other routes I climbed, Mission is the easiest route to read, since it takes the crack line. You have to find exactly the right place to hook the axe upside down - that's where I fell, on the traverse left just before reaching the ice. I then sent the route second go and was obviously extremely happy because: 1. first female ascent 2. excellent line and plenty of ice 3. in was in the sun."

Ines attempted all the routes on-sight, and then sent them second go, apart from Twintowers, which needed one further attempt.
