Himalaya: multiple Makalu summits for Italian mountaineers
Giovanetti, Benedetti, Vielmo, Panzeri and Bernasconi all summit Makalu.
![]() Yesterday at 18.00 Nepal time the Italians Mario Vielmo, Angelo Giovanetti and Renzo Benedetti reached the summit of Makalu. They followed in the footseps of two other Italians, Mario Panzeri and Daniele Bernasconi, who had summited the previous day. Their success came about afer a month of terrible weather on the fifth highest mountain in the world. Once again perserverance paid of, as they managed to summit during the only two days of good weather.
