Here’s spectacular footage of a new slackline, more correctly highline, on the summit of Heligkreuzkofel in the Dolomites. Walked last month by Germany’s Friedrich "Friedi" Kühn, the 132m line was rigged by the 26-year-old professional slacklinerin just below the summit (referred to as Sass dla Crusc in local Ladin language), between Piz dl' Ciaval and Mittelpfeiler, and crossed the next day after a freezing night and in temperatures that dropped down to -10°C. Just like in climbing, the first person to cross a line can give it a name and - unsurprisingly - this has been called Eisfüße, frozen feet.

Technical details: one end of the highline was installed on the summit, while the other was installed below mountain’s lip, circa 20m to the right of the exit of the classic Via Livanos. The hangers have been removed and slackliners are advised not to repeat the line in summer, in order to avoid rockfall.
