"The cold opens up new possibilities, making it possible to reach summits which are impossible in summer due to the instability of the rock." This is what Hervé Barmasse told us in 2013, on his return from Patagonia and his first winter exploration of the area. Together with Martin Castrillo and Pedrito the Italian alpinist carried out the first winter ascent of Cerro Pollone and made the first ascent (and therefore first winter ascent) of two of the three Colmillos summits in the Cordon Marconi area.
