Surely there's a reason why we're back on Monte Civetta again. This time though don't ask Fabrizio della Rossa but the two Mountain Guides Jakob Schweighofer and Florian Wurm. They'll tell you that the irresistible attraction wasn't Via Casarotto, but Chimera verticale, those 600m which after the enormous pedestal climb directly up the NW Face of Punta Civetta and established between 2007 and 2009 by Alessandro Baù along with Daniele Geremia, Alessandro Beber and Luca Matteraglia.
23-year-old Schweighofer from Austria and 27-year-old Wurm from Germany repeated the grade IX line in August in circa 12 hours and theirs is the first repeat, albeit with rests on pitches 10,13 and 14.
