Alpine Trilogy video #2: Benjamin Védrines & Léo Billon climb the Matterhorn

Watch Benjamin Védrines and Léo Billon climb the Matterhorn via the classic Schmid route, as part of their April 2025 Alpine Trilogy which resulted in them enchaining in 6 days and without motorised transport the Eiger, Matterhorn and Grandes Jorasses.

After having climbed the north face of the Eiger on 7 April 2025 via the Heckmair Route in just 4 hours and 10 minutes, two days later Léo Billon and Benjamin Védrines climbed Matterhorn. The French alpinists needed just 5 hours 40 minutes to reach the 4,478m summit via the classic 1931 Schmid Route, before descending to the Solvay hut, downclimbing the east face and skiing from the Hörnlihütte back down to Zermatt.

Védrines had travelled from the Eiger to the Matterhorn by bike, on skis and on foot, as part of his by fair means Alpine Trilogy which resulted in them enchaining in 6 days and without motorised transport the Eiger, Matterhorn and Grandes Jorasses.
