Italian mountaineers Nicola Castagna and Gabriel Perenzoni are currently climbing all 82 peaks over 4,000m in the alps. Having set off on 4 May 2021, the two aspirant mountain guides have already climbed 30 mountains as part of their project called Altavia 4000.

On 04/05/2021 the French mountain guide Paul Bonhomme made the first ski descent of the the West Face of Mont Pouzenc (Embrunais, France).

Italian mountaineers Leonardo Gheza and Giulia Venturelli enchained the north faces of Adamello, Cima della Busazza and Presanella in a single day. The 51km outing covered 3700 vertical gain and was completed in 22 hours.

From 2 -3 March 2021 Matthias Wurzer and Vittorio Messini, two mountain guides from Kals, Austria, completed a winter ascent of the Virger Nordkette (Frosnitzkamm) from Hintereggerkogel to Galtenscharte in one and a half days. Messini reports.

At the crag Lorünser Wändle in Austria Barbara Zangerl has made the first repeat of the 9a Sprengstoff, freed by Jacopo Larcher in November 2020.

Seb Berthe from Belgium has made a single day repeat of Tarragó (240m, 8b+) at Montserrat in Spain.

On 17 March 2021 Luca Pandolfi perished in an avalanche above Flassin at Saint-Oyen in the Aosta Valley. Known by everyone, the Italian was a highly regarded snowboarder.

Two huge climbs were repeated on the northwest face of Civetta in the Dolomites, Italy: Chimera Verticale by Titus Prinoth and Alex Walpoth, and W Mexico Cabrones by Alessandro Baù, Thomas Gianola and Giovanni Zaccaria. This is the first time both routes have been climbed in winter.

German rock climber Alexander Huber frees Highway, a 30-year project established by Thomas Schäfer and Norbert Wich on Waidringer Steinplatte in Austria.

Earlier this autumn alpinists Simon Messner and Martin Sieberer established two new mixed routes, Käse-Greiner and Nordwandrampe, on the north face of Großer Greiner in Austria’s Zillertal alps.

A series of new mixed climbs have been added to Ralfkopf and Glödis above the Lesachtal valley close to Kals am Großglockner in Austria's East Tyrol by Vittorio Messini, Lukas Pichler, Michael Amraser, Isidor Poppeller and Hans Zlöbl.
