Internationalism triumphs at the 59th TrentoFilmfestival. The ‘Gran Premio Città di Trento - Genziana d’oro’ (Golden Gentian) at the 59th TrentoFilmfestival has been awarded to “Summer Pasture”, a poetic tale recounting the life of a nomadic Tibetan family in the remote province of Sichuan in eastern Tibet, by the American filmmakers Lynn True and Nelson Walker:
“We are thankful to the directors for allowing us to experience nomadic life so closely and in such an intimate way. Living with the nomads through the seasons shows us that the challenges and rewards of life are universal”, the international jury made up of Marianne Chaud (France), Leena Pasanen (Finland), David Breashears (USA), Giorgio Fornoni (Italy) and Andreas Pichler (Italy) underlined in its comments.
The ‘Genziana d’oro del Club Alpino Italiano’ for the best film on mountaineering goes to the director Alastair Lee, for “The Asgard Project”, which succeeds in grasping the camaraderie and sense of humour of the team of climbers headed by the British rock climber Leo Houlding during the ascent of rock faces on Baffin Island.
The special jury award goes to the documentary “Into Eternity”, by the Danish director Michael Madsen. It offers a very topical account exploring the dramatic long-term consequences of our society’s thirst for energy resources, calling into question the limitations of our ability to understand the future and our capacity to control the force of the atom.
The spectator's award in the category Alp & Ism was awarded to "180° South" by Chris Mallory (Usa), while "Happy People, a year in the Taiga" by Dmitry Vasyukov (Ger) won the feature film section.
