From 14 - 17 January 2016 Argentière - La Bessée will host the 26th edition of Ice Climbing Ecrins, the classic international ice climbing meeting.
Ice Climbing Ecrins
For the 26th year running Argentière-la-Bessée will host one of most important ice climbing meetings in the world, the Ice Climbing Ecrins 2016. The festival celebrated the landmark quarter of a century last year and the Fournel and Freissinières ice falls that inspired Gérard Pailheret to create the festival back in 1990 are as interesting today as they were over a quarter of a century ago.

Over time the ICE Festival has evolved significantly and this year, apart from the ice falls, there will be a host of different activities on offer that include dry tooling, ski touring, snowshoeing and freeriding. Workshops created in conjunction with the French Alpine Club (FFCAM) and the mountain guides workshops are designed for climbers of all skill levels, from beginners to experts, concentrated on subjects such as the use of safety equipment (avalanche transceiver / shovel / probe) search and rescue for avalanche victims, snowpack knowledge, alpine climbing preparation and much more.

ICE will take place from the 14th to the 17th of January 2016.
