Banff Mountain Festival winners 2005
Sur le fil des 4000 takes film festival Grand Prize, while the book festival is won by Karsten Heuer for his Being Caribou. The Mountain Photography Competition Grand Prize was awarded to Mead Norton for his photo Prayer Offerings on the Shore of Namtso Lake, Tibet.
![]() The 30th annual Banff Mountain Film Festival Grand Prize was won last week by Sur le fil des 4000 (France), directed by Gilles Chappez. This film follows climbers Patrick Bérhault and Philippe Magnin as they attempt to climb all 82 summits in the Alps topping 4000 metres. "This film is about a beautiful adventure shared by two friends," says festival jury member Laurence Gouault. "It shows their passion, love, and respect for the mountains and allows us to share the last journey of a great climber." The Banff Mountain Book Festival Grand Prize was won by Karsten Heuer for his Being Caribou, in which he recounts the five month journey with an endangered Caribou Herd. The 2005 Banff Mountain Photography Competition Grand Prize was awarded to Mead Norton of Auckland, New Zealand for his photo Prayer Offerings on the Shore of Namtso Lake, Tibet.
