Valle di Daone, Ice World Cup and Meeting
Preparations are underway for the second stage of the Ice World Cup 2001
| Preparations are underway for the second stage of the Ice World Cup 2001 and the Meeting Pareti di Cristallo, to be held in the Italian Valle di Daone on 18 - 21 January. The Mountain Guides of the Wind Ice Adventure Valle di Daone 2001 committee have assured the organisers that both the competition and the meeting will go ahead as planned, despite adverse atmospheric conditions and warm weather. Many of the best athletes in the competition circuit have already registered for the Boulder competition and the ice structure, with its series of artificial holds designed specifically for dry tooling, is one of the most interesting ever created for such an event. 250 sq. m. and 9m high, the ice structure is composed of four towers connected by an ice traverse and wooden panels for the spectacular dry tooling. About 300 ice climbers are expected to participate in the Meeting Pareti di Cristallo and climb some of the 136 icefalls situated within the Valle di Daone in the Brenta Dolomites. The meeting will be supervised by the local Mountain Guides, responsible for the safety of the event. To register |
